Source: Forecasts 2005-2008, Agency for Economic Analysis and Forecasting, Bulgaria

Bulgaria's accession to the EU at the beginning of 2007 will have a positive impact on investment. A 10% increase in the income from tourism is anticipated for the period 2006-2010.

The construction sector plays an important role for the economic development of the country. A real boom in construction with record levels of realised building production characterises the last two years – 2004 and 2005. Part of the reason for this is the increased interest of Bulgarian and foreign investors in the building markets of the capital, larger cities, and mountain and seaside resorts. Additionnally, in 2004 the Energy Efficiency Law was passed and in 2005 the National Action Plan for Energy efficiency was adopted. Measures in it include replacing existing window frames in buildings.
