Arch. Stanislava Krumova, Bulgarian Green Building Council (BGBC)

Arch. Stanislava Krumova holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy – Sofia (UACEG) and is a certified DGNB consultant – an internationally applicable certificate for sustainable and green building that serves the assessment of the sustainability of buildings. She is a PhD candidate, who has participated in a PhD mobility programme at the University of Melbourne, Australia.

Her main focus areas include energy efficiency, sustainable construction, green building certification systems, building environmental life cycle performance and assessment. Previous to joining BGBC Stanislava has worked as an architect, academic tutor and expert at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works.

Currently Stanislava, together with arch. Vessela Valtscheva-McGee, president of BGBC, and arch. Nora Yovcheva, executive director of BGBC, are developing the BUILD UPON – the world’s largest collaborative project on building renovation bringing together over 1,000 organisations, across 13 countries. It aims to create a renovation revolution across Europe by helping countries to deliver strategies for renovating their existing buildings.

These strategies are critical to cutting Europe’s energy use, reducing the impacts of climate change, and creating buildings that deliver a high quality of life for everyone. The requirement is set by Article 4 from the Energy Efficiency Directive (2012/27/EU). This Directive introduces an important new dimension to the energy-saving-in-buildings legislative landscape.
