H.E. Mr. Alberto A. M. Trueba

His Excellency Alberto A. M. Trueba is the current Ambassador of the Argentine Republic in the Republic of Bulgaria, also accredited to FYR Macedonia. Argentina has very strong fundamentals to become a regional economic engine. Being a full member of MERCOSUR (regional market of 275 million habitants), the 3rd largest Latin American economy (GDP: USD 583,2 billion in 2015), and the 8th largest country in the world (in terms of territory), it boasts a wide variety and availability of natural resources.
The Argentine Government has identified investment opportunities across multiple sectors, both at federal and provincial levels. The largest opportunities are found in the energy & mining, transportation and infrastructure sectors.
Promoting renewable generation is considered a strategic objective of the Government of Argentina, which promoted laws to foster investment, employment, propel production, and accelerate growth. It also set that 20% of the consumed energy in the country must be produced from renewable sources by year 2025.
Renewables will help Argentina to achieve two higher level goals: improve energy security, mitigate climate change. To reach this target, renewables are set to represent roughly half of all new power generation capacity over the next decade.
Key features of the national support mechanism are the Program RENOVAR and the FODER Trust Fund, both of which are pillars in the current project development opportunities in Argentina and will be presented in details.
