Predicting the future: Software that knows when your waste bin will be full
A Finnish software and data solutions developer Enevo helps to cut costs in waste logistics with its waste collection optimization system.
The ONe Collect system has been proved to cut cost by 40 % when used by municipal waste operators that can optimize their collection routes.
No more emptying of half-empty bins or getting angry feedback because of overfull bins.
The software also collects data history. It can use this information so that it can predict the future: It has a hunch if the bin will be full in the upcoming days. ONe Collect uses smart wireless waste sensors installed in waste containers that send data to a robust data analytics backend. The system then calculates optimized collection schedules and routes based on real-time data sent by the waste sensors in each container.
It has been in use in the Southern area near Porvoo in Finland by a municipal waste management operator Itä-Uudenmaan Jätehuolto Oy. They have noticed savings worth 1 500 – 2 000 euros per month. ONe Collect has customers also in Denmark, Norway, Great Britain and Lithuania.
