Legal Amendments Aim To Increase Zero Net Energy Buildings
The National Assembly adopted on first reading amendments to the energy efficiency legislation aiming to align it to EU directives and raise the number of public buildings with zero net energy consumption, parliament said in a statement published on its website.
The amendments also provide for an introduction of certificates for energy performance to all public service buildings with a gross floor area of ??500 square metres (sq m), and as of July 9, 2015 this threshold will be reduced to 250 sq m.
A total of 10,985 buildings will be audited and certified for energy performance, as Sofia will seek opportunities for financing under EU-funded programmes.
